Job summary

Enloe Health is seeking a Surgical Technologist I to join the OR team. You will assist in preoperative, intraoperative and postoperative phases, supporting physicians, staff, and patients with professional communication and patient safety.

The role requires one year of recent hospital experience or completion of an accredited OR technologist program, plus CPR recognition. Certifications as a Surgical Technologist are desirable, with potential trainee pathways for current Enloe employees.

Qualifications

• One year recent hospital experience as a Surgical Technologist or graduate of an accredited OR Technician/Training program.
• Current Enloe employee who has been accepted into the Surgical Tech Trainee Program.
• Current CPR recognition.
• Desirable: membership in a national surgical technologist organization.
• Desirable: Certification as a Surgical Technologist.

• Functions as a team member during preoperative, intraoperative and postoperative phases of surgery.
• Interact professionally with physicians, staff and patients and communicate effectively.
• Maintain competency and participate in continuing education as required.

Position Summary

The Surgical Technologist I functions as a team member during the preoperative, intra-operative and postoperative phases of the surgical procedure.

Minimum

EDUCATION / TRAINING / EXPERIENCE:

One (1) year recent hospital experience in the capacity of a Surgical Technologist, Graduate of an accredited Operation Room Technician course or has successfully completed Enloe Medical Center’s hospital based Surgical Technologist Training Program

OR

Current Enloe employee who has applied and been accepted into the Surgical Tech Trainee Program

Desired

Membership in a national surgical technologist organization

Must demonstrate technical competence, professional judgment and sensitivity for the patient and family in crisis. Must be able to interact professionally and effectively communicate with physicians, staff, patients, and public. Must have the basic skills appropriate to the role of the Surgical Technologist. Must have the ability to work within a decentralized model of patient care delivery. Must have the ability to organize, prioritize and problem solve efficiently. Must have the ability to work in a demanding environment while remaining calm, efficient and focused. Must have the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Must have the ability and willingness to actively participate in continuing education programs, unit based QI task forces and committees. Must be able to meet competency requirements. Must have the ability to perform the essential functions of the job.
