Job summary

Responsibilities

Position Summary:

The Surgical Technologist (ST) is an integral part of the surgical team, providing expertise as a scrub nurse. The ST collaborates closely with the Registered Nurse to plan and deliver care to patients during surgery and to meet the needs of the surgeon. The role involves providing appropriate patient care across all age groups, including neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. The ST is responsible for maintaining patient confidentiality in accordance with Administrative Policy.


Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • 0-2 years of experience, graduate of an accredited surgical tech program with at least 200 hours of clinical rotations.
  • High School Diploma/GED or 2 years of equivalent work experience.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) - CPR certification (AHA required).
  • Ability to scrub, set up, and maintain a sterile field, and perform the duties of a Surgical Technologist across all surgical specialties.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English.

Preferred Qualifications:

National Surgical Tech certification (CST). An individual with this credential has the knowledge and experience to operate a skin stapler for wound closure under the surgeon’s supervision.

Please note that this location requires quarterly American Heart Association (AHA) Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) competency certification post-hire. This ongoing requirement must be fulfilled through internal resources; external RQI providers are not accepted for compliance.
