Job summary

A leading healthcare provider in Pittsburgh is seeking a full-time Surgical Technologist. This position requires supporting surgical teams and performing various technical tasks to assure patient care before, during, and after surgery. Candidates must have relevant certification and are encouraged to apply if they have at least one year of college experience or equivalent. Qualifications

• One year certificate from a college or technical school or equivalent education.
• Certification as a Surgical Technologist preferred within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• 0-1 Years of Experience: 2-year commitment $10,000; 3-year commitment $12,000
• 1-2 Years of Experience: 2-year commitment $10,000; 3-year commitment $17,000
• 2+ years of experience: 2-year commitment $15,000; 3-year commitment $25,000

General Overview

This job performs direct and indirect technical tasks for patients before, during, and after surgical interventions.

Essential Responsibilities

• Assists in setting up the surgical operating suite with appropriate instruments and supplies. (20%)
• Utilizes proper aseptic techniques and practices standard precautions. Follows policy for medication and specimen handling. (20%)
• Assists with preparing, positioning and draping patients and participates in the surgical pause to assure correct patient and surgical site. (20%)
• Understands, anticipates and adapts to surgeon preference and patient care variables, and contributes to updating surgeon preference materials. (20%)
• Performs sponge, needle, and instrument count. (10%)
• Cares for and utilizes resources to promote cost effective and efficient environment for patients. (10%)
• Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Qualifications

• One year certificate from a college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Surgical Technologist (ST) hired after 12/29/2020 require one of the following:
  • Education and Certification Accredited Surgical Technologist program completion and nationally recognized certification (CST, TS-C) within 6 months of hire. Military programs accepted.
  • Pre-existing Employment Employment as a surgical technologist by this facility before 12/29/2020, or at another facility within the two years prior to 12/29/2020.
• CPR – American Heart Association within 60 days of hire.

Preferred

• 1-3 years of Surgical Technologist experience.
