Job Description: Surgical Technologist

Responsible for assisting surgeons, nurses, and other healthcare professionals in various surgical procedures, playing a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and safe operation of the operating room. This position requires Patient Care.

Essential Functions

1. Prepare the operating room for surgical procedures, including setting up sterile supplies, instruments, and equipment.
2. Transport patients to the operating room, assist with positioning on the surgical table, and ensure their safety and comfort during the procedure.
3. Pass instruments, supplies, and equipment to the surgical team during procedures.
4. Follow proper sterilization techniques to ensure the cleanliness and sterility of surgical instruments and supplies.
5. Maintain accurate and complete documentation of surgical procedures, including counts of sponges, sharps, and instruments used.
6. Collaborate effectively with surgeons, nurses, anesthesiologists, and other members of the surgical team.
7. Assist in preparing the surgical site by applying sterile drapes and solutions.
8. Secure and manage surgical drains and catheters as directed by the surgeon.

Education

High School Diploma or Equivalent required. This role does not accept experience in lieu of a degree.

Licenses and Credentials

• Basic Life Support (BLS Certification) - preferred from various issuers.
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) - preferred, issued by the NBSTSA.
• Dental Assistant (State License) - preferred.
• Medical Technician (New Hampshire) - preferred.

Experience

3-5 years of experience as a Surgical Technologist I or in a similar role is required.

• Knowledge of surgical procedures, instrumentation, and sterile techniques.
• Familiarity with surgical equipment and technology used in the operating room.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
