Job summary

Saint Francis Hospital, Inc. is seeking a full-time Surgical Technologist to assist in the operating room under direct RN supervision. The role requires graduation from an ABHES/CAAHEP-accredited program and NBSTSA/NCCT certification, with CPR certification.

Applicant should have 0–2 years' related experience and basic aseptic technique knowledge. Responsibilities include maintaining sterile fields, supplying instruments, and supporting case turnover.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain sterile field for surgeries.

• Perform high-level disinfection and environmental clean-up.

Facilitates patient flow through case turnover. Performs environmental activities to maintain asepsis of operating room. Anticipates needs in instruments, sutures, sponges, and supplies according to technique procedure, and special requirements. Maintains correct sponge, needle, and instrument count with registered nurse and reports discrepancies as policy requires. Performs high level disinfection. Develops and demonstrates competency in specialty team cases and can serve as a preceptor. Demonstrates competencies in multiple specialties. Makes changes in surgeon's preference cards per surgeon requests to keep them current.Decision Making: Independent judgment in planning sequence of operations and making minor decisions in complex technical or professional field.Working Relationships: Works directly with patients and/or customers.
