Job summary

Saint Francis Hospital, Inc. is seeking a full-time Surgical Technologist to assist in the operating room under direct RN supervision. The role requires graduation from an ABHES/CAAHEP-accredited program and NBSTSA/NCCT certification, with CPR certification.

Applicant should have 0–2 years' related experience and basic aseptic technique knowledge. Responsibilities include maintaining sterile fields, supplying instruments, and supporting case turnover.

Current Saint Francis Employees - Please click HERE to login and apply.Full TimeDay Shift#ALDINDJob Summary: Under direct supervision of a registered nurse, performs the duties of a primary or secondary surgical technologist in surgical procedures.Minimum Education: Graduate of a Surgical Technology Program accredited by Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Educational Programs (CAAHEP) or by the State.Licensure, Registration and/or Certification: Certified through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT). CPR certification.Work Experience: 0-2 years of related experience.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Basic knowledge of aseptic technique. Ability to prepare and maintain a sterile field. Basic knowledge of surgical instrumentation.Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Creates and maintains sterile field, anticipates and provides instrumentation and supplies necessary to perform surgery. Facilitates patient flow through case turnover. Performs environmental activities to maintain asepsis of operating room. Anticipates needs in instruments, sutures, sponges, and supplies according to technique procedure, and special requirements. Maintains correct sponge, needle, and instrument count with registered nurse and reports discrepancies as policy requires. Performs high level disinfection. Develops and demonstrates competency in specialty team cases and can serve as a preceptor. Demonstrates competencies in multiple specialties. Makes changes in surgeon's preference cards per surgeon requests to keep them current.Decision Making: Independent judgment in planning sequence of operations and making minor decisions in complex technical or professional field.Working Relationships: Works directly with patients and/or customers. Works with internal/external customers. Works with other healthcare professionals and staff.
