Mercy is seeking a Surgical Technologist to support the operating room team by ensuring instruments are available for procedures and coordinating patient care with the surgical team.
Candidates should have a High School Diploma or GED; a postsecondary certificate or an associate degree in Surgical Technology is preferred, and BLS certification is required. Non-licensed candidates may be considered depending on experience.
Find your calling at Mercy! Performs the primary function of a Surgical Technologist in the Operating Room. Maintains accountability for the provision of surgical instruments to the surgical team. Coordinates the care of the surgical patient with other team members. Maintains patient rights and confidentiality. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.
Minimum Qualifications Education: High-School Diploma or GED are required. You may be asked to provide proof of education. Licensure: Non-licensed/certified candidates may be considered. Experience: Non-24-Hour Opportunity locations May consider non-certified candidates with applicable surgical technologist experience. 24-Hour-Opportunity locations May consider non-experienced perioperative candidates. Certifications: American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) required. Other: Must understand English both written and spoken, must be able to safely and successfully perform job-related functions, with or without reasonable accommodation required by federal, state, or local law.
Successful completion of a Postsecondary certificate or associate degree in Surgical Technology from an accredited surgical technology program.
Surgical Technology Certification preferred.

Our Mercy health system was founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1986. But our heritage goes back more than 195 years. It began with an Irish woman named Catherine McAuley, who was determined to help women and children in Dublin experiencing poverty. Though Catherine had a modest upbringing, she received an unexpected inheritance that allowed her to fulfill that dream. In 1827, she opened the first House of Mercy in Dublin, intending to teach skills to women and educate children. Many volunteers came to help. A few years later, Catherine founded the Sisters of Mercy, one of the first religious orders whose Sisters were free to walk among the poor and visit them in their homes. In 1843, the Sisters of Mercy came to the United States. In 1856, they traveled to St. Louis. In the years to come, they would establish hospitals throughout the Midwest. Many of these would join together in 1986 as Mercy.
