Job summary

Doctors Hospital of Augusta, part of HCA Healthcare, is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist to support our Main Operating Room. You will assist the surgical team before, during, and after procedures, ensuring a safe, sterile environment and delivering compassionate patient care.

Prepare rooms and equipment, pass instruments, maintain aseptic technique, and collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, nurses, and the perioperative team.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
• Current Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential through NBSTSA.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within established timeframe.
• Previous operating room experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of aseptic technique and surgical instrumentation.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced surgical environment.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare operating rooms ensuring instruments, equipment, and supplies are sterile.
• Assist surgeons throughout procedures by passing instruments and anticipating needs.
• Maintain the sterile field and follow infection prevention protocols.
• Perform sponge, needle, and instrument counts according to policy.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, nurses, and other perioperative team members.
• Assist with room turnover and preparation for subsequent procedures.
• Support patient safety initiatives and quality improvement efforts.
• Demonstrate professionalism and compassionate patient care.
