Job summary

A hospital in Beckley, West Virginia is seeking a Surgical Technologist to join its Surgical Services team. You will help maintain sterile fields, prepare ORs and instruments, and support surgeons during a variety of procedures, including orthopedics and general surgery.

The role requires a high school diploma and completion of a Surgical Technologist program, BCLS certification, and on-call availability. New graduates are encouraged to apply, with competitive hourly compensation and benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Completion of a Surgical Technologist course or program required.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification required.
• Three to four years of experience in a surgical setting preferred; new graduates are encouraged to apply.
• State Registered Nursing Assistant (SRNA) or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification preferred.
• Must be within 30 minutes of the hospital during on-call hours.

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain a sterile field in accordance with infection-prevention and patient-safety practices.
• Prepare operating rooms, surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies for procedures.
• Anticipate surgeons' needs and pass instruments, supplies, and equipment efficiently during cases.
• Perform and document surgical counts and handle specimens according to established procedures.
• Assist with patient preparation, positioning, and draping within the surgical technologist scope of practice.
• Support operating room turnover and preparation between cases.
• Collaborate with surgeons, nursing staff, anesthesia professionals, and other perioperative team members.
