Job summary

Hartford HealthCare in New Britain, CT seeks a Surgical Technician to support procedures before, during, and after surgery. You will ensure proper setup of the operating room and instruments, and assist the surgeon as allowed.

This role requires completion of a surgical technician program, NBSTSA certification within a year, CPR/BLS, and a strong commitment to sterile technique, patient safety, and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Completion of a surgical technician program.
• NBSTSA certification within one year, or eligibility.
• CPR/BLS validation and annual Validation Day required.
• Knowledge of various surgical procedures and anticipating surgeon needs.
• Knowledge of surgical equipment and instrumentation.
• Excellent interpersonal/communication skills.
• Adherence to sterile field policies.
• Knowledge of basic patient care and safety concepts.
• Asepsis principles and OR emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Provide service and support before, during, and after surgical procedures.
• Ensure proper arrangement of surgical equipment and supplies in the operating room.
• Assist the surgeon during operations as allowed by standards.
• Assist with cleaning the operating room after surgery and routing of equipment.
