    Hours- 80 hours WEEKEND ONLY

    Position Summary:

    Perform functions to assist the operative team in the delivery of perioperative nursing care to return patient to optimal health.

    Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates knowledge and competency in performing basic and specific surgical technician skills related to the role.
  • Assists the RN, Surgeon, Anesthesiologist, Physician Assistant, and Perfusionist in the delivery of perioperative nursing care delineated by pre-operative and post-operative functions.
  • Demonstrates safe medication management within operative field.
  • Maintains a safe patient care environment.
  • Responds to real or simulated emergency and disaster situations according to established procedure.
  • Demonstrates competency in the utilization of specified equipment required for patient care.
  • Assists the RN in the development of surgeon specific preference cards.
  • Assumes responsibility for maintaining knowledge base and skills through continuing education and other learning experiences.
  • Functions as assistant in cardiovascular procedures and as a first scrub or assistant in other specialties.
  • Participates in performance improvement activities.
  • !*! Qualifications: Required:
    • High school diploma or equivalent
    • Graduation from an approved program for OR Technologists or minimum three years experience as a Surgery Technologist
    • Certification as an Operating Room Technologist, if not current must be obtained within six (6) months of hire/transfer
    • CPR issued by American Heart Association or Red Cross
