Job summary

Saint Francis Hospital, Inc. is seeking a full-time Surgical Technologist to work in the operating room. Under direct supervision, you will assist in surgical procedures, maintain a sterile field, prepare instruments, and support case turnover.

Ideal candidates have a certified Surgical Technology credential, completed ABHES/CAAHEP or state-accredited program, and 0–2 years of related experience. CPR certification is expected, with a strong emphasis on aseptic technique and instrument counts.

CPR certification.Work Experience: 0-2 years of related experience.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Basic knowledge of aseptic technique. Ability to prepare and maintain a sterile field. Basic knowledge of surgical instrumentation.Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Creates and maintains sterile field, anticipates and provides instrumentation and supplies necessary to perform surgery. Facilitates patient flow through case turnover. Performs environmental activities to maintain asepsis of operating room. Anticipates needs in instruments, sutures, sponges, and supplies according to technique procedure, and special requirements. Maintains correct sponge, needle, and instrument count with registered nurse and reports discrepancies as policy requires. Performs high level disinfection. Develops and demonstrates competency in specialty team cases and can serve as a preceptor. Demonstrates competencies in multiple specialties. Makes changes in surgeon's preference cards per surgeon requests to keep them current.Decision Making: Independent judgment in planning sequence of operations and making minor decisions in complex technical or professional field.Working Relationships: Works directly with patients and/or customers.
