Job summary

Nebraska Medicine is hiring a Surgical Technologist for Bellevue Medical Center in Nebraska. The role supports the perioperative team by preparing the OR, organizing sterile instruments, and maintaining a sterile field throughout procedures.

Part-time shift with on-call requirements for weeknights and weekends; location is Nebraska Medicine Bellevue Medical Center. High school education or equivalent, surgical technologist certification, and BLS are required.

Qualifications

• High school education or equivalent required.
• Surgical technologist certification required.
• Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program OR equivalent training/scrub experience with an accredited institution required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (BLS with skills assessment or approved BLS) upon completion of unit orientation required, must be from an American Heart Association (AHA) endorsed program.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the operating room and ensure sterile instruments and supplies are available and properly arranged.
• Maintain a sterile environment throughout procedures.
• Assist surgeons, nurses, and other medical staff before, during, and after surgical procedures.
• Support safe and efficient patient care by anticipating the needs of the surgical team.

Surgical Technologist – Bellevue Medical Center

A Surgical Technologist is a critical member of the perioperative care team who assists surgeons, nurses, and other medical staff before, during, and after surgical procedures. This role is responsible for preparing the operating room, ensuring all sterile instruments and supplies are available and properly arranged, maintaining a sterile environment throughout procedures, and anticipating the needs of the surgical team to support safe and efficient patient care.

Work Schedule + Shifts: Part Time

• 11:00am - 7:30pm, Monday - Friday work weeks
• Weeknight and 24 hour Weekend on-call required
• Location: Nebraska Medicine Bellevue Medical Center

Required Qualifications:

• High school education or equivalent required.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior experience as a surgical technologist or assistant preferred
• Knowledge of various surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies/materials, all patient care equipment and supplies, policy, procedure, and protocol manuals, audio-visual, video, and microscopic equipment, computers, telecommunication equipment, and wall/ceiling and tanked medical gases preferred.
• For some clinical areas, the ability to speak, read, and write in English and Spanish may be preferred.
