University Hospitals Ahuja Medical Center OR Team is seeking dedicated Surgical Technologists to join our operating room staff. The role focuses on maintaining sterile conditions, anticipating the needs of the surgical team, and ensuring instruments and supplies are ready and properly handled.

The position is part of the second level in the Surgical Technologist career ladder, with a $5k sign-on for external candidates with 1+ years of experience and a $2,500 sign-on for new grads.

Qualifications

• The Surgical Technologist maintains sterile conditions and assists the surgical team.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, efficient age-specific nursing care to patients and families.
• Serve in the primary scrub role and precept others in the scrub role.
• Assist with technical responsibilities in operative procedures and act as a resource in an area of expertise.
• Ensure instruments and supplies are available and in proper working condition; operate service-specific equipment.
• Deliver labeled medications with correct doses on the sterile field and adhere to patient safety norms.
• Support the operative team and follow hand-off protocols with the RN/ACN.
• Participate in quality improvement processes.
• Pursue learning and act as a knowledge resource for the service line.

A Brief Overview

The Surgical Technologist maintains sterile conditions, anticipates the needs of the surgical team, and ensures that all instruments and supplies are available and properly handled. This position is the 2nd level of Surgical Technologist career ladder

What You Will Do

• Provide safe efficient age specific nursing care to patients/families using nursing interventions in order to assist them to attain, maintain, regain, and sustain optimal health status.
• Provide patient care/function in a primary scrub position and takes responsibility for precepting others in the scrub role.
• Assist with technical responsibilities in assigned operative procedures and serve as resource in an area of expertise.
• Assure appropriate instruments/supplies are present and in proper working condition, and demonstrate ability to operate service specific equipment.
• Provide labeled medications with correct doses on the sterile field and adheres to patient safety expectations.
• Support the operative team, includes following patient care hand off protocol, or standards, protocols and policies in collaboration with a RN/ACN.
• Actively participate in the quality improvement process.
• Involved in learning, self-improvement and performs as a knowledge expert and resource person for the service line.
