Job summary

Northside Hospital in Georgia is seeking a Surgical Technologist to handle instruments, supplies, and equipment during surgical procedures, ensuring patient safety and high-quality care in turnover and operating room support.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent, BLS certification, and graduate of an accredited surgical technology program with 1 year of experience; 3 years in an OR is acceptable in lieu of the 1-year requirement.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED, or post-secondary education.
• BLS certification from American Heart Association is required.
• Color acuity screening may be required depending on unit.
• Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program with 1 year of experience in surgical tech OR 3 years in an OR as a surgical technologist.

Responsibilities

• Handle instruments, supplies, and equipment during surgical procedures.
• Support patient safety and quality of care by assisting medical staff during turnover of procedures.
• May work across multiple surgical service lines and with patients from neonate to geriatric.

The surgical technologist handles the instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure. Helps to ensure patient safety and quality of care by performing various tasks and duties that provide technical assistance and support to medical/surgical staff and personnel during and in the turnover of surgical procedures. Specializes in multiple surgical services lines and potentially works with neonates, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.

REQUIRED

1. High school diploma, equivalent education (GED) or post-secondary education
2. Must hold American Heart Association’s Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS).
3. Visual color acuity screening depending on the role in specific units.
4. Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program and working as a surgical technologist with one (1) year of experience.

OR

Three (3) years of full-time employment within the last seven (7) years in an operating room setting working as a surgical technologist.

PREFERRED

1. Certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or Technologist- Certified (TS-C) through the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
