Surgical Technologist (Finance)

Nemours is seeking a full-time Surgical Technologist to join our Wilmington team! The surgical technologist facilitates operative and other invasive procedures by preparing and providing sterile instruments, supplies, and equipment. Maintains the sterile field and responds to the needs of the surgical team.

This position at Nemours Children's Hospital, Delaware, involves collaboration with the Nemours Ambulatory Surgery Facilities in Pennsylvania and New Jersey to optimize resources for patient outcomes. It may require periodic rotation to these centers, with travel compensated per organizational policy.

The role requires maintaining all state and federal clearances for DE, PA, and NJ, including current PA FBI Fingerprint Report, PA Criminal Background Record, and PA Child Abuse Clearance, for rotation purposes.

The position involves working shifts based on departmental needs and FTE, including on-call and holiday shifts.

Position details: Full-time, 72 hours biweekly, 12-hour shifts.

Responsibilities:

1. Function as a scrub person during operative and invasive procedures by assembling necessary supplies and equipment.
2. Participate in pre-procedure OR setup following established protocols.
3. Prepare and organize sterile supplies and instruments, inspecting for sterility.
4. Assist with supply accounting and take corrective actions as needed.
5. Assist with sterile drape placement.
6. Provide instruments and supplies safely during procedures.
7. Maintain a safe, organized back table and sterile field.
8. Ensure the sterility of the surgical field, escalating issues as necessary.
9. Prepare sterile dressings after final surgical counts.
10. Clean and prepare instruments for sterilization per organizational policies.
11. Participate in OR turnover processes following established procedures.

Qualifications:

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association within 90 days of hire.
• Completion of a Surgical Technology Program.
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Tech in Surgery - Certified (NCCT) preferred.
