We build our culture one hire at a time. We want to build a great team that helps us focus on delivering exceptional eye care: the kind of team people want to be a part of, and the kind of team we can’t live without.

We want to learn more about you and the kind of team culture you can help us create. We’re interested in your relevant skills and what you can do. We’re even more interested in your positive attitude and flexible mindset!

THE OPPORTUNITY AT HAND

The Certified Surgical Technician (“CST”) is responsible for helping our O.R. to run smoothly. You will ensure we are prepared with the right instruments and tools at the right time. You will have a working knowledge of all operating room equipment including emergency equipment used in CPR. You will maintain a working knowledge of surgical instruments, and are responsible for their care, maintenance, and cleaning (sterilization included). You will recognize equipment malfunction and be able to do minor troubleshooting. You’ll become familiar with the surgical procedures and techniques of the Surgeons that you work with and will “gown and glove” them like a pro and assist with surgical procedures when needed.

OUR EXPECTATIONS OF YOU

  • Daily: set up and prepares the autoclaves for use, ensuring that the core sterilizer and tabletop units are functioning properly and achieving proper run specifications
  • Inspect O.R. suite daily to ensure that it meets ASC standards for cleanliness
  • Initial morning scrub shall be for 3 to 5 minutes; routine scrub is required between cases
  • Gowning and gloving shall be in accordance with acceptable sterile technique
  • Set up phaco and retina equipment and instruments while patient is being positioned and prepped
  • Maintains the instrument table, mayo stands, and instruments in proper order and condition during the case
  • Assist with stocking of supplies, cleaning of equipment, and room “turn over” in a timely fashion and notify appropriate parties of anything that needs to be addressed
  • Check IOL with Circulating Registered Nurse for proper style, model, and power
  • Assist the Circulating R.N. in “closing” the O.R. The O.R. should be left neat, clean, and ready for immediate use
  • You may be asked to assist with direct patient care, from time to time
  • Responsible for making and sterilizing packs, instrument trays, packaging and wrapping necessary instruments and items necessary for certain procedures, to ensure their sterility
  • Responsible for end-of-week cleaning and maintenance of all inventory expiration dates
  • Conduct lens inventory and report results to the Clinical Director or purchasing agent. Assures a complete consignment prior to the next day’s surgery

What You'll Need To Succeed

  • Must have graduated from an accredited program for surgical techniques or supply evidence of equivalent practical experience
  • Must have knowledge of sterilization techniques and their appropriate uses
  • 1+ year working in an operating room environment, preferably as a surgical technician preferred
  • Certification or training in ophthalmology surgical techniques preferred
