Job summary

Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital in Virginia Beach, VA, is seeking a Surgical Technologist to ensure the operating room is prepared and to assist the surgical team throughout procedures. You will pass instruments, maintain sterility, and anticipate the surgeon’s needs while prioritizing patient safety and a clean, organized environment.

We require a Virginia Surgical Technologist License, NBSTSA/NCCA certification, and BLS. Prior surgical tech experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Virginia Surgical Technologist License REQUIRED.
• NBSTSA/NCCA Surgical Technologist Certification REQUIRED.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification REQUIRED.
• Experience: Prior Surgical Technologist experience PREFERRED.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the operating room with the necessary instruments and equipment and assist the surgical team throughout the procedure.
• Pass instruments, maintain the sterile field, and anticipate the needs of the surgeon.
• Assist in applying dressings, securing surgical drapes and transferring patients to recovery areas.
• Adhere to infection control protocols and sterile techniques to prevent contamination and ensure patient safety.
• Work closely with the surgical team to ensure smooth and effective procedures.

The Surgical Technologist ensures that the operating room is properly prepared with the necessary instruments and equipment and assists the surgical team throughout the procedure by passing instruments, maintaining the sterile field, and anticipating the needs of the surgeon. The role involves maintaining patient safety and ensuring that the surgical environment is organized, clean, and sterile. The Surgical Technologist assists in applying dressings, securing surgical drapes and transferring patients to recovery areas. Adheres to infection control protocols and sterile techniques to prevent contamination and ensure patient safety. Works closely with the surgical team to ensure smooth and effective procedures.

Certification/Licensure

We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, and benefits. The base pay range for full-time employment is $30.26 - $44.75 hourly. Additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call pay, overtime, shift premiums, extra-shift incentives, or bonus opportunities. Compensation within the range may vary based on qualifications, experience, location, market conditions, and business needs.
