Job summary

Responsibilities

• Creates and maintains sterile field and prepares instrumentation for procedures.
• Assists in achieving case turnover and maintains surgeon's preference cards.
• Manages instrument, sponge, and needle counts; reports discrepancies as required.
• Performs high level disinfection and environmental cleaning of the OR.
• Develops competency across specialty cases and can serve as a preceptor.
• Works with the surgical team to ensure asepsis and patient safety.

Facilitates patient flow through case turnover. Performs environmental activities to maintain asepsis of operating room. Anticipates needs in instruments, sutures, sponges, and supplies according to technique procedure, and special requirements. Maintains correct sponge, needle, and instrument count with registered nurse and reports discrepancies as policy requires. Performs high level disinfection. Develops and demonstrates competency in specialty team cases and can serve as a preceptor. Demonstrates competencies in multiple specialties.
