Job summary

Florida Orthopaedic Institute Surgery Center – Temple Terrace is hiring a Surgical Technologist to scrub for procedures and support the surgical team. Responsibilities include preparing and maintaining supplies and equipment and participating in quality improvement efforts.

Under supervision, the technologist contributes to patient care in orthopedics, ENT, general surgery, GI, gynecology, ophthalmology, pain, plastics, podiatry and urology. Requires aseptic technique and teamwork.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Completion of an appropriate surgical technician program or 2 years of surgical tech experience.
• Ambulatory surgical center experience preferred
• Strong knowledge of surgical procedures and patient management
• Understanding of aseptic techniques and their implementation
• Ability to adapt quickly to changing patient conditions
• Excellent teamwork and communication with staff, patients, and physicians

Responsibilities

• Scrubs for surgical procedures under supervision and as part of the surgical team.
• Prepares and maintains supplies, instruments and equipment for procedures.
• Supports the center's philosophy, objectives and quality improvement activities.

• Position requires weekdays only -- no holidays, weekends, nights or calls*

Surgical Technologist at Florida Orthopaedic Institute Surgery Center - Temple Terrace

Under the direct supervision of the Director of Nursing, the Surgical Technologist scrubs for surgical procedures and demonstrates competence while functioning as a member of the surgical team. Prepares and maintains supplies, instruments and equipment related to these procedures. Supports the philosophy, objectives and goals of the Surgery Center. Supports and participates in quality improvement activities.

Experienced in supporting in the following specialties: Orthopedics, ENT, General, GI, Gynecology, Ophthalmology, Pain, Plastic, Podiatry, Urology.

Qualifications:

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Completion of an appropriate surgical technician program or previous surgical technician experience of at least two years.
• Previous experience in an ambulatory surgical center strongly preferred
• Must possess a strong knowledge of surgical procedures and management of the surgical patient
• Understanding of aseptic techniques and their implementation
• Ability to quickly adapt to changing condition of the patient when needed
• Must be an excellent team player and have the ability to communicate with staff, patients and physicians
