Job summary

BJC HealthCare at Christian Hospital is seeking a Surgical Technician to support the Surgical Services Team. You will scrub cases, assist with daily duties, and participate in a collaborative environment where teamwork is essential.

Schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, with call approximately one night per week and occasional weekend/holiday coverage. A $12,500 sign-on bonus is offered for eligible candidates.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• <2 years or military equivalent experience expected.
• Surgical Technician license/certification preferred or required.

Responsibilities

• Prepares operating room for surgical patients, reviews surgeon needs, gathers supplies and equipment, maintains room cleanliness, and assists with sterile supplies.
• Performs surgical scrub duties and assists with collection, identification, and disposition of cultures/specimens.
• Takes part in turnover of the room and ensures return of supplies, instruments, and equipment to proper location.

Northwest HealthCare, six miles west of Christian, offers 24- hour emergency care, the Sleep Disorders Center and a variety of outpatient diagnostic and imaging services.

The Surgical Services Department performs emergency, trauma, elective, in-patient, out-patient, and ambulatory/same day surgery. ASD also does pre-and post-procedure assessment and recovery of special procedures patients, and pre-procedure assessment of cardiac cath lab patients. Specialties include general surgery, orthopedics, GU, GYN, thoracic, ophthalmic, vascular, plastic, neuro, dental, ENT, endoscopic, cardiovascular, and podiatry.

Role Purpose

Performs surgical duties for operating room procedures under the direct supervision of a registered nurse.

Responsibilities

• Prepares operating room for surgical patient, reviews preference cards to determine surgeon needs, obtains the necessary supplies and equipment for the procedure, ensures cleanliness of room, and assists with opening sterile supplies.
• Performs surgical scrub duties, and assists with the collection, identification, and disposition of cultures and specimens.
• Assists in turning over of room, and ensures supplies, instruments, and equipment are returned to proper location.
