Job summary

Barnes-Jewish Hospital invites applications for a Surgical Technician in the Labor and Delivery unit. You will support OR readiness, assist with sterile technique, and handle specimen collection under RN supervision. • Responsibilities

  • Cesarean sections, D&C, tubal ligations, extensive cervical or vagina lacerations repairs, occasional cystoscopies, hysterectomy occasionally.

Preferred Qualifications

Role Purpose

Performs surgical duties for operating room procedures under the direct supervision of a registered nurse.

Responsibilities

• Prepares operating room for surgical patient, reviews preference cards to determine surgeon needs, obtains the necessary supplies and equipment for the procedure, ensures cleanliness of room, and assists with opening sterile supplies.
• Performs surgical scrub duties, and assists with the collection, identification, and disposition of cultures and specimens.
• Assists in turning over of room, and ensures supplies, instruments, and equipment are returned to proper location.

• <2 years or military equivalent experience
