Job summary

South Kansas City Surgicenter in Overland Park, KS is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) for a full-time Day shift. The role supports surgical procedures by maintaining a sterile environment, passing instruments, and ensuring patient safety during operations.

No weekends or on-call required. The position requires completion of an ORT program or equivalent training with 3+ years in a surgical setting; BLS certification is mandatory.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent or related experience required.
• Graduate of an ORT training program or on-the-job training with a minimum of 3 years' experience (surgical setting preferred).
• Experience in scrubbing minor and major procedures in generalized surgical specialties preferred.
• Experience scrubbing in specialty areas (Ortho, Neuro, ENT, Uro, etc.) preferred.
• Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain it.

Responsibilities

• Maintain strict sterile technique and ensure proper sterilization of instruments.
• Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments and anticipating needs.
• Perform accurate counts of sponges, needles, and instruments pre- and post-procedure.
• Support patient positioning and surgical site preparation (draping).
• Collaborate effectively with surgeons, nurses, and OR team members to ensure efficient workflow.
• Prepare and organize surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment for procedures.

• High School Diploma or Equivalent or related experience required for new hires effective April 2014.
• Graduate of an ORT training program or on-the-job training with a minimum of 3 years' experience (surgical setting preferred).
• Experience in scrubbing minor and major procedures in the generalized surgical specialties (i.e., GYN, General, and Plastics) is preferred.
• Experience in scrubbing at least minor procedures in the specialty surgical areas (i.e., Ortho, Neuro, ENT, Uro, etc.) preferred.
• Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain it.
