Shifts Available:

• 40-hour position (four 10-hour shifts): 6:45 AM - 5:15 PM
• 36-hour position (three 12-hour shifts): 10:45 AM - 11:15 PM

Note: Positions require regular and holiday call, weekend rotation based on unit needs. Hours and call requirements may vary; a 30-minute response time is required.

The Surgical/Minor Procedure Technologist is an unlicensed assistive person working under supervision to ensure a safe operating room environment, proper equipment functioning, and maximized patient safety during procedures. Responsibilities include handling instruments, equipment, supplies, aseptic technique, setting up sterile fields, assisting with instrument passing, labeling medications, preparing dressings, instrument care, participating in counts, and assisting with sign-in, timeout, and sign-out procedures.

Position Responsibilities:

• Implement protective measures to prevent skin or tissue injury from heat sources, lasers, or heavy instruments.
• Monitor the sterile field and operative team for technique breaches or contamination to prevent infections.
• Handle instruments and supplies safely to avoid compromising patient or team safety.
• Identify, collect, and transfer specimens as directed.
• Participate in and perform counts of needles, sponges, and instruments as per hospital policy.
• Implement latex precautions to protect patients with latex allergies.
• Participate actively in the Universal Protocol, Sign In, Timeout, and Sign Out procedures.
• Maintain awareness of patient allergies and implement precautions accordingly.
• Ensure sterility of instruments and equipment, checking package integrity and chemical indicators.
• Assist with patient transfers carefully to prevent injuries.

Position Requirements:

• High school diploma required; graduation from a Surgical Technology program or equivalent preferred.
• American Heart Association BLS certification required upon hire.
• Certified Surgical Technologist preferred.
• Minimum of 1 year experience in hospital or outpatient surgery setting preferred.
