Job summary

Trinity Health in Michigan is seeking a Surgical Technologist for a full-time, day-shift role. You will support surgeons by passing instruments and supplies, maintain strict aseptic technique, and assist with instrument reprocessing and sterilization.

The position requires completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist Program and certification within one year, with ongoing certification maintenance. Expect 80 hours per pay period, four 10-hour shifts weekly, with weekend call as per contract.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Performs all phases of reprocessing including decontamination, tray assembly and sterilization, with documentation.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Description:

What the Surgical Technologist Will Do:

• Provides assistance as necessary to surgeons and residents by selecting, organizing, anticipating and passing surgical instruments, medical supplies, equipment, and provides retraction under the direction of the surgeon.
• Maintains highest standard of aseptic technique during all operative procedures, including surgical attire, surgical hand scrub, surgical gowning of self and team, surgical gloving of self and team, boundary between sterile and non-sterile areas, and traffic patterns.
• Identifies breaches in aseptic technique and implements interventions for resolution.
• Performs all phases of reprocessing including decontamination, tray assembly, sterilization, documentation, and problem resolution for parameter failure.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

What the Surgical Technologist Will Need :

• Completion of accredited Surgical Technologist Program required.
• Completion of Certification Examination required within one year of employment.
• Must maintain certification throughout employment.
• Well-developed communication skills, both written and oral.
• Able to communicate effectively with individuals and groups representing diverse perspectives.

What a Surgical Technologist will work:

Full time

80 hours per pay period

Four 10 hour shifts per week variable days; 0645-1715 with some variability per CBA

Weekends, call and holidays to be scheduled in accordance with CBA
