Job summary

Children’s Minnesota in Minneapolis seeks a Surgical Technologist to join the operating room team. You will assist surgeons, scrub and set up procedures, and may specialize in cardiac, neurological, or laser cases as needed.

The role emphasizes precise sterile technique and strong teamwork. As a member of a Level I pediatric surgical program, you’ll work closely with physicians, nurses, and anesthesia professionals to deliver safe intraoperative care for children of all ages, with opportunities

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program.
  • Surgical Technologist certification preferred but not required.
  • BLS certified.

Responsibilities

  • Apply understanding of anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, and pharmacology to assist surgeons with surgical procedures.
  • Proficiently apply sterile technique in all aspects of patient care.
  • Competently use surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment to provide patient care and troubleshoot malfunctions as they arise.
  • Function as a preceptor or mentor to new surgical technologists and registered nurses.
  • Communicate effectively as a team member, collaborating with the surgical team of physicians, nurses, and anesthesia professionals.

Job description

Department Overview

Children’s Minnesota Minneapolis Hospital’s main operating room includes nine surgical suites and one procedure room. The center is the first and only in Minnesota verified as a Level I Children’s Surgery Center by the American College of Surgeons. It is a Level 1 designated Pediatric Trauma center and provides surgical care for children from fetuses and infants through young adults.

Position Summary

The Surgical Technologist is an integral member of the patient‑care team, providing skilled intra‑operative technical expertise and care for the surgical patient. The role includes assisting the surgeon, setting up and scrubbing all surgical procedures, and may involve specialization in a specific field such as cardiac or neurological surgery, or laser specialization.

Compensation and Benefits

The posted salary represents a market competitive range based on salary survey benchmark data for similar roles in local or national markets. In addition to salary, the position may be eligible for medical, dental, vision, retirement, and other fringe benefits. Positions that require night, weekend, or on‑call work may be eligible for shift differentials or premium pay. All job offers are contingent upon successful completion of occupational health assessment, drug screen, background investigation, and compliance with the U.S. Government Form I‑9, Employment Eligibility Verification.
