Job summary

McPherson Hospital Inc. in Kansas seeks a Surgical Technologist to support the operating room team with sterile technique and instrument handling for surgical procedures.

The full-time role includes day shift and on-call duties, with responsibilities to prepare sterile fields, assist the surgeon, and maintain strict infection control.

Qualifications

• Formal surgical training program required; graduated from an accredited Surgical Technologist program preferred.
• Currently enrolled in or completed formal Surgical Technologist program.
• BLS certification within 6 months of hiring.

Responsibilities

• Assist in maintaining correct environment within the surgical suites and the surgical department.
• Exhibits professionalism always.
• Maintains confidentiality as required by HIPAA regulations.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Anticipates, prepares, and maintains the sterile field with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications/solutions needed for the surgical procedure.
• Maintains the highest standard of sterile technique.
• Anticipates the needs of the surgeon during the surgical procedure.
• Clean, prepare, document, and terminally sterilize instruments.
• Takes call on rotation with other staff during OR non-scheduled hours as appropriate.

The Surgical Technologist is an expert in sterile technique, handling instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during surgical procedures.

Surgical Technologist Essential Accountabilities:
