Job Title Duties (not limited to):

• Operating Room Preparation: Prepare and set up the operating room prior to surgical procedures, ensuring that all necessary instruments, equipment, and supplies are available, properly sterilized, and organized for use.
• Surgical Assistance: Establish and maintain a sterile field throughout surgical procedures. Assist surgeons and other members of the surgical team by anticipating their needs, passing instruments and supplies, and supporting the efficient flow of procedures.
• Sterile Technique and Infection Control: Adhere to established infection prevention and control protocols, including proper sterile techniques, aseptic practices, and safety procedures to maintain a clean and safe surgical environment.
• Inventory Management: Monitor and maintain inventory levels of surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment. Assist with ordering, restocking, and organizing materials to ensure the operating room is adequately supplied for scheduled procedures.
• Operating Room Cleaning and Maintenance: Perform routine cleaning, disinfection, and preparation of operating rooms before and after procedural days, as well as between cases when necessary, in accordance with facility policies and infection control standards.
• Biohazardous Waste Management: Ensure the proper handling, removal, and disposal of biohazardous materials, including sharps containers, contaminated supplies, soiled linens, and other medical waste, in compliance with applicable safety regulations and facility protocols.
• Equipment and Instrument Care: Inspect surgical instruments and equipment for proper functionality, report any damaged or malfunctioning items, and assist with the cleaning, decontamination, and sterilization process as appropriate.
• Team Collaboration: Work closely with surgeons, nurses, anesthesia providers, and other clinical personnel to promote effective communication, patient safety, and efficient operating room operations.
• Additional Duties: Perform other related duties as assigned to support the daily operations of the surgical center.

Qualifications

• Diploma or certificate from an accredited Surgical Technology program required.
• Minimum of 1–2 years of experience in an Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) setting.
• Strong knowledge of surgical instruments, sterile techniques, and operating room procedures.
• Familiarity with infection control practices, biohazardous waste handling, and surgical safety protocols.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced surgical environment while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Strong communication, organizational, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to anticipate the needs of surgeons and other clinical team members during procedures.
