Job summary

Saint Francis Hospital, part of Trinity Health Of New England, is seeking a Surgical Technology scrub/assistant to join the Nursing Support team. Under direct supervision, you will render quality service to patients of all ages and assist surgeons during operative procedures.

The role is part-time with a day shift and includes per diem availability, cross-training between Main OR and Ambulatory Unit, and opportunities for career growth within a nationally respected health system.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of Surgical Technology.
• Certified CST from NBSTSA.
• BLS from American Heart Association or Red Cross required; new rule 10/1/2023; uncertified Techs have 18 months to provide proof of certification.
• Minimum one year of scrub experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists with the preparation of sterile/unsterile supplies and equipment.
• Assumes responsibility for the proper care of all supplies and equipment; transports patients and assists with transferring patients from stretcher to table and vice versa; assists with lifting and positioning patients.
• Reports unusual occurrences to the Operating Room Director or designee and contributes to the efficient and productive operations of the Operating Room.
• Cross-training between Main OR and Ambulatory Unit.

Position Purpose

Functions as a professional under the direct and continuous supervision of qualified professional registered nurses and in accordance with established procedures and aseptic principles functions as a first scrub/scrub assistant in selected cases to render quality service to patients of all ages and surgeons during operative procedures.
