Job summary

Saint Francis Hospital, part of Trinity Health Of New England, is hiring an OR scrub assistant in a full-time day shift. A $7,500 sign-on bonus is available for external candidates, with on-call weekends and holidays required.

The role supports surgeons during operative procedures and works under supervision from registered nurses. Qualifications include graduation from an accredited Surgical Technology program, NBSTSA CST certification, and BLS certification.

Qualifications

• Education: Graduate of an accredited school of Surgical Technology.
• Licensure: Certified CST from NBSTSA.
• Certification: BLS from American Heart Association or Red Cross required.
• Experience: Minimum one year of scrub experience preferred.
• On-Call- Weekend and Holidays (Required).

Responsibilities

• Functions as a professional under direct supervision of qualified professionals.
• Serve as first scrub/scrub assistant in selected cases during operative procedures.
• Assist with preparation of sterile/unsterile supplies and equipment.
• Assist with transferring and positioning patients and transporting them between stretcher and table.

Position Purpose

Functions as a professional under the direct and continuous supervision of qualified professional registered nurses and in accordance with established procedures and aseptic principles functions as a first scrub/scrub assistant in selected cases to render quality service to patients of all ages and surgeons during operative procedures.

What you will do

• Assists with the preparation of sterile/unsterile supplies and equipment.
• Assumes responsibility for the proper care of all supplies and equipment; transports patients and assists with transferring patients from stretcher to table and vice versa; assists with lifting and positioning patients.
• Reports unusual occurrences to the Operating Room Director or designee and contributes to the efficient and productive operations of the Operating Room.
• Cross-training between Main OR and Ambulatory Unit.

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: Graduate of an accredited school of Surgical Technology.
• Licensure: Certified CST from NBSTSA
• Certification: BLS from American Heart Association or Red Cross required. New Requirement as of 10/1/2023, uncertified Techs have 18 months to provide proof of certification. THOfNE gives 1 chance to pass licensure exam.
• Experience: Minimum one year of scrub experience preferred.
• On-Call- Weekend and Holidays (Required)
