Job summary

Cuyuna Regional Medical Center in the Greater Brainerd Lakes Area is seeking a dedicated Surgical Technologist to join our operating room team. You will prepare and manage the sterile environment, assist with patient transport and draping, and work under the supervision of a Perioperative RN to ensure smooth procedures and patient safety.

Responsibilities include passing instruments during surgeries, supporting room turnover, instrument decontamination, and restocking.

Qualifications

Graduate of a Surgical Technologist Program OR 2+ years of surgical scrub experience coupled with related clinical training (e.g., LPN, Military)
American Heart Association BLS certification within 30 days of hire
CST (Certified Surgical Technologist) or associated professional certification preferred
Experience with skin closure with suturing preferred

Responsibilities

Assist with patient preparation from transport to surgical draping under guidance of a Perioperative RN.
Provide instruments and supplies to surgeons during surgeries.
Maintain efficiency and safety by anticipating surgeons' needs.
Handle post-surgical tasks: room turnover, instrument decontamination, restocking.
Collaborate with surgeons, physician assistants, and nurses to ensure high-quality patient care.

A Day in the Life of a Surgical Technologist

As a Surgical Technologist, you'll be essential in preparing and managing the sterile environment within the surgical suite, adhering to AORN and AST guidelines. Responsibilities include assisting with patient preparation, from transport to surgical draping, all under the guidance of a Perioperative RN. During surgeries, you are vital in providing necessary instruments and supplies directly to surgeons, anticipating their needs to maintain efficiency and safety. This role also involves post-surgical tasks such as room turnover, instrument decontamination, and restocking.
