Job summary

Resurgens Surgery Center is seeking an experienced Surgical Technician committed to providing excellent patient care. The role involves assisting the surgical team, maintaining sterile conditions, and ensuring patient safety throughout procedures.

Eligible candidates will have a Surgical Technician Certification, 1–2 years of experience, and preferably orthopedic/Total Joint exposure. A sign-on bonus of up to $5,000 is offered to qualified applicants.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Completion of a Surgical Technician Certification Program.
• One to two years of experience as a Surg Tech in multiple specialties.
• Orthopedic/Total Joint experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Efficiently and effectively assists physician with operative procedures.
• Anticipates surgeon’s needs before and during procedures.
• Maintains sterility of supplies and instruments during setup.
• Assists circulating nurse and surgical team to maintain sterile environment.
• Counts sponges, needles, and instruments pre- and intra-operatively with the circulating nurse.
• Gowns and gloving of surgeons and assistants as needed.
• Maintains patient and staff privacy and confidentiality per policy.
• Adheres to safety guidelines and uses protective equipment correctly.

Position eligible for a Sign-on Bonus up to $5,000.00

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Efficiently and effectively assists physician with operative procedures
• Anticipates surgeon/physician’s needs both in preparing for procedures and during procedure
• Demonstrates knowledge of specific responsibilities in all emergency situations.
• Ensures sterility of all supplies and instruments during set up of surgical procedures.
• Handles instruments in a manner which prolongs “life” of instrument.
• Assists circulating nurse and surgical team in maintaining sterile environment.
• Assists circulating nurse in gathering necessary surgical supplies and equipment. Is responsible for doing sponge, needle, and instrument count pre-operatively and intra-operative with the circulating nurse.
• Gowns and gloves surgeons and assistants.
• Assists in keeping physician preference cards accurate/updated.
• Retains all specimens to be sent to pathology, confirming source/name of specimen with surgeon.
• Transports all surgical equipment to appropriate cleaning areas. Assists in sterile supply with cleaning and reprocessing of instrument sets.
• Interacts appropriately and effectively with all patients/others regardless of age or ethnic background.
• Uses Standard Universal Precautions, appropriate hand hygiene, personal protective equipment, and safe practices to ensure personal safety and a safe environment.
• Assists with environmental hazard and infection control surveillance and participates in emergency preparedness drills.
• Follows all equipment and safety guidelines and is responsible for knowledgeable use and care of equipment.
• Server as a resource to other members of the health care team.
• Attends in-services, conferences, and meetings as required.
• Communicates effectively and courteously with visitors, physicians, and their office staffs, patients, and employees. Maintains patient, physician, and employee privacy and confidentiality per policy.
• Maintains designated certifications such as CPR, as offered by the center.
• Acts in accordance with the vision, mission, and business philosophy of the Center.
• Complies with Policies and Procedures, and adheres to safety guidelines to ensure a safe work and patient care environment.

Education and/or Experience:

• High School Diploma / GED; completion of a Surgical Technician Certification Program.
• One to two years experience as a Surg Tech in multiple specialties or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experiencing in the Ortho Specialty / Total Joint strongly preferred.
