Job summary

The Surgical Technician at ProMedica Toledo Hospital assists in preparing for and managing surgical cases, ensuring sterile field integrity and aiding the circulating nurse in maintaining counts of sponges, instruments and sharps.

This part-time role is 24 hours per week, with daytime shifts in the Surgery department. Ideal candidates are high school graduates who completed a Surgical Technology program or an LPN program and hold current CPR certification.

Job Summary:

As a Surgical Technician, you use your knowledge of anatomy, patient needs and departmental procedures to prepare for and manage surgical cases at ProMedica.

You will ensure sterile field integrity by using aseptic techniques and addressing any breaks in sterile technique quickly.

Teamwork is key in this role as you work with the circulating nurse to keep an accurate count of sponges, instruments, and sharps in accordance with department guidelines.

REQUIREMENTS

• Education: Must be a high school graduate or equivalent. Must be a graduate of a Surgical Technology program or a Licensed Practical Nurse educational program.

• License: Current, unencumbered Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) licensure from the state of employment if hiring into the LPN capacity.

• Certification: CPR required.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

• Years of Experience: Prior experience in a surgical setting preferred.

• Certification: Preferred Certification by the Association of Surgical Technologists (AST), certification from NCCT.
