Job summary

Providence Kodiak Island Medical Center in Kodiak, AK is hiring a Surgical Technician II for the Surgery Department. This full-time, day-shift role supports surgeons and staff by maintaining a sterile environment and preparing instruments for procedures.

Qualifications include graduation from an accredited Surgical Technology Program, national certification, and BLS within 30 days of hire. Prior OR scrubbing experience is preferred.

  • Within 30 days of hire: BLS certification must be current.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Surgeon and surgical team during procedures.
  • Maintain sterile field and handle instruments accordingly.
  • Decontaminate and sterilize equipment and supplies.
  • Provide professional, patient-centered support in the OR.

We are hiring for Surgical Technician positions in the Surgery Department at Providence Kodiak Island Medical Center in Kodiak, AK!

Position: Full-time, Day Shift, 40 Hours Per Week.

$10,000 Hiring Bonus for eligible external hires that meet required qualifications and conditions for payment

Relocation Assistance available for eligible hires that meet required qualifications and conditions for payment.

The Surgical Technician II provides support by anticipating the needs of the Surgeon and other surgical personnel by performing tasks that assist in the care and treatment of patients during the surgical process while maintaining a sterile work environment at all times. Performs decontamination of equipment, instruments and completes sterilization process. Maintains a positive and professional image when interacting with patients, their families, physicians, employees and general public.

Required Qualifications:

  • Coursework/Training: Graduation from a Surgical Technology Program accredited by the Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation (CAAHEP) or other program accredited by the Liaison Council on Certification for the Surgical Technologist or completion of a Surgical Technician Military Training program.

  • Upon hire: National Certified Surgical Technologist - National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting, or

  • Upon hire: National Tech in Surgery - Certified - National Center for Competency Testing

  • Within 30 days of hire: National Provider BLS - American Heart Association

  • Operating Room experience for candidates who have graduated from an accredited Surgical Technology Program or have completed other accredited programs by the Liaison Council on Certification for the Surgical Technologist or completion of a Surgical Technician Military Training program. Candidates with equivalent other or at least six months of on the job clinical training must have minimum one year operating room experience scrubbing on surgical procedures.

The successful candidate's placement on the wage range for this position will be determined based upon relevant job experience and other applicable factors. These amounts are the base pay range; additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.
