Job summary

Providence Kodiak Island Medical Center in Kodiak, AK is hiring a Medical Laboratory Scientist for full-time, 0.9 FTE with 12-hour variable shifts. You will perform clinical diagnostic testing, therapeutic phlebotomy, and quality control to ensure accurate results.

Eligible external hires may receive a $7,500 hiring bonus; relocation assistance is available. Required certifications include MLS/CLS or equivalent within one year; preferred two years in a clinical lab.

Qualifications

  • Education to meet certification, license or registration requirement.
  • Within 1 year of hire: MLS/CLS certification by ASCP or equivalent.
  • Within 1 year of hire: American Association of Bioanalysts/AMT eligibility.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct clinical diagnostic testing for inpatients and outpatients.
  • Perform therapeutic phlebotomy.
  • Carry out quality control procedures on tests and equipment.
  • Report results to the patient’s medical record and staff when warranted.

We are hiring for Medical Laboratory Scientist position at Providence Kodiak Island Medical Center in Kodiak, AK!

Position is full-time, 0.9 FTE, 12-hr Variable shifts, 40 hours per week.

$7,500 Hiring Bonus for eligible external hires that meet required qualifications and conditions for payment.

Relocation Assistance available for eligible hires that meet required qualifications and conditions for payment.

The Medical Technologist conducts clinical diagnostic testing on inpatients, outpatients, and residents to included blood draws and specimen collections for processing. Performs therapeutic phlebotomy. Conducts quality control procedures on patient tests and laboratory equipment to ensure that accurate diagnostic testing is performed. Reports patient data to the patient's medical record and/or medical staff if the results warrant direct contact.

Required Qualifications:
  • + Education to meet certification, license or registration requirement.
  • + Within 1 year of hire: National Medical Laboratory Scientist - American Society for Clinical Pathology, or
  • + Within 1 year of hire: National Clinical Laboratory Scientist - American Society for Clinical Pathology, or
  • + Within 1 year of hire: National Medical Technologist - American Medical Technologists, or
  • + Within 1 year of hire: National Medical Technologist - American Society for Clinical Pathology, or
  • + Within 1 year of hire: National Medical Technologist - American Association of Bioanalysts
Preferred Qualifications:
  • + 2 years work experience in a clinical laboratory.
