Qualifications

Job description

Licensed Surgical Technician - Plastics

Herndon VA

Pay From: $40 Per Hour

MUST:
  • Surgical Technician must have 3 years of experience as a Surgical Technician
  • Surgical Tech certification
  • Thorough working knowledge of aseptic technique
  • Ability to pass instruments and sterile supplies to physicians
  • Ability to suture incisions
  • Apply dressings
  • Clean and stock rooms
  • Ability to arrange surgical supplies and instruments
  • Knowledge and administration of medications
  • BLS certification
  • Must be certified
DUTIES:
  1. Passing of instruments and sterile supplies to physicians and keeping accurate count of the instruments
  2. Assisting surgical team to dress for surgery
  3. Suturing incisions made by surgeon
  4. Applying dressings and appropriate garments to surgical sites
  5. Preparing and preserving specimens obtained during surgery and completing appropriate paperwork for these specimens
  6. Operation of the lights, suction machines and other equipment as needed during surgery
  7. Transporting the patient to their support person's car
  8. Cleaning and restocking the operating room for the next surgery
  9. Keeping accurate measurements of all tissue/fat removed from the patient during surgery
  10. Keeping an accurate record of the amount of local anesthetic injected into the patient during surgery
  11. Accurately close out invoice as procedures are completed
  12. Assisting the Material Manager on an as needed basis
  13. Responsible for the inventory and notifying correct personnel for ordering
