Job summary

UofL Health in Louisville, KY is seeking a Surgical Technician to provide direct patient care under RN supervision during surgical interventions. You will ensure sterile technique, prepare the operative field, and anticipate instrument needs.

Responsibilities include passing instruments, assisting with room setup and turnover, handling specimens, and maintaining compliance with HIPAA and hospital policies. Graduation from an accredited program and BLS certification are preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Graduate of an accredited surgical technologist program preferred.
• Completion of UofL Health Surgical Technologist training program preferred.
• BLS certification required.
• Experience in patient care or surgical tech role preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare operative area and maintain sterile environment.
• Pass instruments, sponges and sutures to surgeon and monitor counts.
• Receive and handle surgical specimens.
• Prepare operating room and assist with turnover.
• Institute cleaning, reprocessing and storage of instruments.
