Surgical Technician Non Certified - Labor and Delivery

This job is responsible for preparing and passing instruments and equipment for assigned surgical procedures in accordance with hospital and department standards. It is also responsible for carrying out patient care needs delegated by an RN, Physician, or Supervisor.

We have been recognized as The Best Hospital in Hays County for over 20 years and are a Certified Chest Pain Center and Primary Stroke Center. We lead in da Vinci robotic-assisted surgeries and offer various specialty services including medical imaging, rehabilitation, hospice, and women’s services.

Responsibilities:

  • Meet expectations of applicable OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
  • Establish and maintain a sterile field, pass instruments and sutures to the physician, and assist as directed.
  • Use the physician preference card as a guide when preparing cases and setting up the OR.
  • Keep preference cards updated and complete.
  • Work effectively as part of the team caring for the patient.
  • Participate in team planning and execution.
  • Maintain a safe environment by applying technical and aseptic practices at all times.
  • Demonstrate expertise in the use and care of surgical supplies, instruments, and equipment.
  • Follow Universal Barrier Precautions for safety of patients and staff.
  • Monitor and control the surgical environment, including traffic control, dress codes, and sanitation policies.
  • Be familiar with policies on decontamination, processing, and sterilization of instruments and supplies.
  • Perform patient care responsibilities that meet the specific needs of the patient population served.
  • Adapt patient assessment and care methods to accommodate individual physical, psychosocial, cultural, and developmental needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

Education/Skills: High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Experience: 2 or more years of experience preferred.
