Job summary

CommonSpirit Health’s St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Oxnard seeks a Surgical Tech to prepare the operating room and support the surgical team across a variety of procedures.

You will set up equipment, assist the team, and ensure a sterile environment while adapting quickly and collaborating with the OR staff to promote optimal patient healing outcomes.

Qualifications

• Completion of a Surgical Technologist Training course.
• Demonstrates knowledge of sterile techniques and surgical procedures.
• Proficient handling of surgical instruments and OR equipment.
• Ability to support the surgical team and maintain room turnover efficiency.
• CPR/BLS certification required upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing the operating room and surgical team for procedures.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Surgical Tech, you will help prepare the operating room and surgical team so they can successfully perform a variety of surgical procedures for patients.

Every day you will set up surgical equipment and instruments, assist the surgical team, and ensure a sterile environment. You will be expected to adapt quickly, collaborate effectively within the OR team, and contribute directly to the patient's healing process.

To be successful in this role, you must possess adaptability, a strong team-player mindset, and enthusiasm for supporting complex surgical procedures.

• Surgical Tech II
• Demonstrates intermediate or advanced skills in operating room technology and proficient knowledge of surgical procedures (as described in the Core Competencies and unit skills checklists).
• Consistently demonstrates the principles of aseptic technique according to policy and procedures and practices within the guidelines described in Universal Precautions.
• Handles blood and tissue specimens accurately and in a timely manner.
• Consistently demonstrates proper care and handling of instruments and equipment.
• Facilitates movement of surgery schedule through timely room turnover, communicating with appropriate persons for case progress and delays, through consistent and accurate anticipation of team needs.

Job Requirements

Required

• Completion of a Surgical Technologist Training course., upon hire and
• 1-3 years Less than two (2) years recent hospital experience in the capacity of a Surgical Technologist and certification as a Surgical Technologist., upon hire
• Certified Surgical Technologist, upon hire or
• Technologist in Surgery-Certified, upon hire and
• Basic Life Support - CPR, upon hire
