We are hiring a Surgical Technician for the First Shift at Mary and Elizabeth Hospital, UMC. This role involves providing direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse during surgical procedures. The technician anticipates and supplies equipment, supplies, and instruments to the surgical team, adhering to sterile techniques for patient safety.

Job Summary

The Surgical Technician supports surgical interventions by preparing the operative area, maintaining an aseptic environment, passing instruments, handling specimens, and assisting with room setup and turnover.

Essential Functions

1. Prepares the operative area, maintains sterile environment, and reports contamination.
2. Passes instruments, sponges, sutures; monitors medications.
3. Handles surgical specimens as directed.
4. Sets up operating room for cases and assists with turnover.
5. Handles cleaning, reprocessing, and storing instruments and equipment.

Shift Requirements

8-12 hour shifts, 3-5 shifts per week. Overtime is often required.

Additional Responsibilities

• Assists in patient transfer and positioning.
• Ensures compliance with policies, procedures, and HIPAA.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
