Job summary

La Paz Regional Hospital & Clinics is seeking a surgical first assistant to support the surgeon during operations at the Parker, AZ facility. You will assist with intraoperative tasks, instrument handling, and room setup with strict adherence to sterile practice and hospital policy.

This role requires completion of an accredited Surgical Technician Program and a First Assist program, plus current BLS certification.

Qualifications

Graduated from an accredited Surgical Technician Program and First Assist training.
Current Certification as Surgical Technician/First Assist; BLS required.
Typically two years of Surgical Technician experience or equivalent.
Relates interview-to-role experience, training and education to perform the job.

Responsibilities

Interact professionally with patient and family; provide explanations and reassurance.
Adapt procedures for pediatric to geriatric patients; anticipate surgeon needs intraoperatively.
Contribute to patient safety and reduce errors in care.
Follow steam sterilization procedures; maintain and monitor instruments/equipment.
Complete operating room counts accurately; report discrepancies.
Collaborate with nursing team to maintain equipment and supplies.
Maintain sterile setup and room readiness for procedures.
Apply sutures, staples, clips, and drainage to control bleeding.
