Essential Job Duties:
The Operating Room Technician demonstrates knowledge of the step-by-step progress of specific surgical procedures for all surgical services. Anticipates surgeon's needs in regards to instrumentation, sutures, sponges, supplies, etc. Displays dexterity in the use of the required instrumentation according to technique, procedure and special requirements. Demonstrates ability to function in intra-operative situations requiring in-depth technical expertise and knowledge of anatomy and physiology. Anticipates instrumentation/equipment for a wide range of simple and complex surgical procedures. Pulls appropriate instrumentation, sutures, sponges, and supplies consistent with surgeon's preference. Surgical environment is set up and organized prior to patient's arrival into room. Knowledge of preparing and maintaining a sterile field. Knowledge of instrumentation and supplies necessary for specialty surgical procedures.
