Job summary

Clara Maass Medical Center in New Jersey seeks a Surgical Technician to support the perioperative team in the Operating Room. You will assist with instrumentation, patient care, and safety protocols under the supervision of the perioperative RN.

Full-time, Monday–Friday, 7am–3pm, 37.5 hours weekly. The ideal candidate has completed an accredited surgical technologist program, holds a CST credential, and maintains current BLS certification.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of an accredited surgical technologist program.
• Current CST credential or equivalent mandatory.
• Current BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain an environment that supports safe patient outcomes in the OR.
• Anticipate surgeon instrumentation and equipment needs during cases.
• Collaborate with perioperative RN to provide age-specific patient care.
• Ensure sterile technique and compliance with safety protocols.
• Assist with patient positioning and intraoperative handling as needed.

Education

Surgical Technologist program (accredited)

Certified Surgical Technologist credential (NBSTSA) or equivalent

BLS Certification (American Heart Association)

Job Overview

In collaboration with the perioperative registered nurse, the surgical technician will function as a member of the team to organize and administer individualized age-specific care to patients

Qualifications: Required

• Has successfully completed a nationally or regionally accredited educational program for surgical technologists
• OR Holds and maintains a certified surgical technologist credential administered by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting or its successor, or other nationally recognized credentialing organization

Certifications and Licenses Required (if applicable)

• Current BLS required (American Heart Association)
• Successful completion of all Orientation and Departmental Programs with documentation

Scheduling Requirements (non-exempt positions)

Full-Time, Monday - Friday 7am - 3pm37.5 hours per week

Essential Functions

• Maintain an environment that facilitates safe patient outcomes.
• Ensure the patient’s physiologic responses to surgery are as expected in the surgical suite and across the perioperative.
• In collaboration with the perioperative registered nurse, the surgical technician will function as a member of the team to organize and administer individualized age-specific care to patients.
• Maintain an environment that facilitates safe patient outcomes, and ensurepatients' physiologic responses to surgery are as expected in the surgical suite and across the perioperative division.
• Anticipates the surgeon s instrumentation and equipment needs during a case; anticipates when a case deviates from the normal and is able to promote a smooth transition.
• Complies with all risk reduction procedures to prevent a fire in the OR setting, including safety practices associated with Laser and electro-surgery.
