Job summary

Clara Maass Medical Center is seeking a Surgical Technician to support the operating room team. You will work with perioperative staff to prepare and care for patients, ensuring sterile technique and proper equipment readiness.

The role requires a completed surgical technology program and an active CST or equivalent credential, plus current BLS. Full-time daytime schedule with standard hours is offered, along with a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Requires completion of a nationally or regionally accredited surgical technologist education program.
• Maintains and holds a certified surgical technologist credential or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Maintain an environment that facilitates safe patient outcomes.
• Assist perioperative team to organize and administer age-specific care.
• Anticipate instrumentation and equipment needs for cases and support smooth cases.
• Adhere to risk reduction procedures to prevent fires in the OR and safety protocols for lasers and electrosurgery.

Job Overview

In collaboration with the perioperative registered nurse, the surgical technician will function as a member of the team to organize and administer individualized age-specific care to patients

Qualifications: Required

• Has successfully completed a nationally or regionally accredited educational program for surgical technologists
• OR Holds and maintains a certified surgical technologist credential administered by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting or its successor, or other nationally recognized credentialing organization

Certifications and Licenses Required (if applicable)

• Current BLS required (American Heart Association)
• Successful completion of all Orientation and Departmental Programs with documentation

Scheduling Requirements (non-exempt positions)

Full-Time, Monday - Friday 7am - 3pm37.5 hours per week

Essential Functions

• Maintain an environment that facilitates safe patient outcomes.
• Ensure the patient’s physiologic responses to surgery are as expected in the surgical suite and across the perioperative.
• In collaboration with the perioperative registered nurse, the surgical technician will function as a member of the team to organize and administer individualized age-specific care to patients.
• Maintain an environment that facilitates safe patient outcomes, and ensurepatients' physiologic responses to surgery are as expected in the surgical suite and across the perioperative division.
• Anticipates the surgeon s instrumentation and equipment needs during a case; anticipates when a case deviates from the normal and is able to promote a smooth transition.
• Complies with all risk reduction procedures to prevent a fire in the OR setting, including safety practices associated with Laser and electro-surgery.
