Job summary

UP Health System – Portage, part of Lifepoint Health, seeks a Surgical Scrub Tech OR to join our day shift team. You will prep the operating suite, assist with patient positioning, pass instruments, and support specimen processing while maintaining a safe, efficient workflow.

Candidates should have completed a Certified Surgical Technology Program and hold BLS-HCP certification; one year of related experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Requires completion of a Certified Surgical Technology program.
• BLS-HCP certification required or preferred.
• 1-year related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares surgical operating suite with drapes, solutions, instruments, equipment and supplies. Ensures good working order of equipment and instruments.
• Assists with preparing, transporting, positioning and draping patients.
• Passes instruments to physician during surgery. Continually accounts for number and location of instruments and supplies during surgery.
• Receives and processes specimens for delivery to the laboratory.
• Performs on call services as requested.
• Actively participates and ensures room turnovers are efficient and timely.
• Assist with orientation and training of personnel and students.
• Participates and attends meetings as required and/ or assigned.
• Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
• Requires critical thinking, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

What we are looking for

Applicants should have completed a Certified Surgical Technology Program. Additional requirements include:

• Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (BLS-HCP)
