Job summary

Eye Health America is seeking an OR support professional to assist the surgeon and nurse during ophthalmic surgical procedures. You will help prepare the operating room, maintain supplies, and ensure sterile technique throughout the case. Overtime may be required, and prior OR experience is valued.

The role requires one or more years in the OR and certification is a plus. This is an onsite opportunity with benefits including medical/dental, 401(k) matching, and paid time off.

• Certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing the operating room for the planned procedure.
• Maintain adequate inventory of supplies.
• Set up sterile operating field with instruments and supplies per standards.
• Observe aseptic technique and report breaches to the circulating nurse and surgeon.
• Pass instruments and supplies to surgeon and assistants without disrupting the operative field.
• Ensure removal of instruments and supplies from the field after procedures.

The Eye Associates, an affiliate of Eye Health America, is a growing, multi-specialty ophthalmology practice. We are always seeking great people who aren't just searching for a job but looking to make a difference.

This individual is responsible for assisting the surgeon and nurse in rendering professional care to patients undergoing surgical procedures within the center in accordance with established procedures. Overtime may be required.

Job Responsibilities

• Assists in preparing the operating room for the planned procedure.
• Assists with maintaining an adequate inventory of supplies.
• Sets up sterile operating field with instruments and supplies necessary for that procedure; arranges instruments, sutures, drapes, and supplies per AORN standards.
• Observes strict aseptic technique throughout the entire procedure and report break-in technique to the circulating nurse and the surgeon.
• Passes instruments, supplies, and sutures to the surgeon and assistants as needed and in such a manner so that their attention is not diverted from the operative field.
• Sees that all instruments, needles, sponges, and other supplies are removed from the operative field.
