Job summary

Anderson Hospital in Illinois is seeking a Surgical Technologist to support the perioperative team under nursing supervision. You will help provide safe, efficient care to surgical patients during the intrapoperative period and participate in scheduling and call responsibilities.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, a Surgical Technology diploma or on-the-job training, and CPR certification.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent; Surgical Technology diploma or documented on-the-job training.
• CPR certification from American Heart Association required; CST certification preferred.
• One year surgical technician experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Works with the perioperative team under the supervision of the nursing staff to provide safe care to surgical patients during the intraprocedural period.
• Responsible for call and supporting departmental schedules.
• Maintains aseptic technique and follows hospital policies for instrument cleaning, disinfection and sterilization.
• Supports patient rights and culturally diverse care; contributes to evidence-based practice in the surgical setting.

Responsible for call.Job Responsibilities:Exhibits responsibility for departmental and personal work schedules.Supports patient’s rights and responsibilities, including respect of cultural and religious diversity.Provides age-appropriate and population specific patient care in a safe, skillful, accurate and efficient manner to all populations.Maintains current knowledge and practice of hospital and departmental policies and procedures.Conducts self in a professional manner.Demonstrates the principles of surgical aseptic technique by following policy and procedures.Engages in activities to expand and/or enhance the professional role, which includes integration of research and evidence based practice.Performs patient care in a safe and effective manner.Facilitates interventions in accordance with patient’s established plan of care and provides appropriate nursing interventions for the patient undergoing surgical intervention.Follows policy and procedures for cleaning, disinfecting and sterilization of scopes and instruments.Follows policy and procedure for environmental cleaning and housekeeping.Education Requirements and Other Requirements:Education Level: High school diploma or equivalent.
