Job summary

Texas Orthopedic Hospital, part of HCA Healthcare, seeks a Surgical Technologist for PRN shifts to support surgical teams in a fast-paced orthopedic setting. You will scrub, prepare the surgical suite, and collaborate with surgeons and nurses to ensure patient safety and efficient procedures.

You will participate in on-call rotations, operate sterilization and care equipment, and contribute to process improvements and patient-centered service.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a Surgical Technology program is required.
• Certification in Surgical Technology is required.
• Current BCLS certification from the American Heart Association is required.
• 1 year or more of Surgical Technologist experience is required.

Responsibilities

• Plans for and scrubs assigned surgical procedures in accordance with standards.
• Participates in on-call rotation based on department needs.
• Operates sterilizer and other patient care equipment per training.
• Promotes hospital processes and communicates issues to the chain of command.
• Takes initiative to assist with updating surgeon preference cards, case carts, stocking rooms, OR turnover, and inventory.
• Engages in quality improvement and strives for high quality performance.
• Sets and achieves personal career-related goals and helps others improve skills.
• Builds effective relationships across work groups and promotes teamwork.
• Demonstrates accountability and sound judgment in resource management.
• Delivers high-quality customer service per ICARE and hospital service principles.
• Completes other activities as assigned.

What you will do in this role:

• Plans for and scrubs assigned surgical procedures in accordance with AORN, AST, quality, regulatory, and company standards.
• Participates in on-call rotation based on the need of the department.
• Operates the sterilizer and other patient care equipment according to manufacturer’s instructions after proper training.
• Promotes hospital processes and goals, and communicates issues, whether actual or potential, to appropriate person in the chain of command.
• Takes initiative in performing other duties, whether assigned or not, such as assisting with updating surgeon preference cards, pulling case carts, stocking rooms, turning-over the OR, and assisting with scheduled supply inventory.
• Quality Improvement: Strives for high quality performance and takes initiative to make improvements and deliver results.
• Personal Achievement: Sets and achieves personal goals to advance career-related skills, knowledge and abilities and helps others to improve their skills.

What qualifications you will need:

• Graduate of a Surgical Technology for Surgical Technologist role is required.
• Certification in Surgical Technology.
• Current BCLS certification from the American Heart Association required.
• 1 year or more of Surgical Technologist Experience is Required.
