Job summary

Baton Rouge General is seeking a Nursing Support professional to operate in the Operating Room, supporting the surgical team and ensuring patient safety. The role involves skin preparation, aseptic technique, transporting patients, and assisting with instruments and specimens.

The position requires on-site full-time availability and adherence to hospital procedures, HIPAA, and departmental protocols. Experience in the OR environment is advantageous.

Qualifications

• Licensed Practical Nurse or Surgical Technician training preferred.
• Nursing student status considered where applicable.
• Graduate of relevant nursing or surgical tech programs preferred.
• Experience maintaining aseptic technique and patient privacy preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares Operating Room with instruments and supplies for the appropriate procedure.
• Assists physicians and nurses during surgical procedures.
• Maintains aseptic technique and monitors for breaches in aseptic safety.
• Maintains and organizes instruments and equipment; assists with sterilization.
• Performs additional duties as assigned to support safe patient care.
