Job summary

Piedmont Augusta Hospital is seeking a Surgical Technologist to assist in operative procedures, maintaining a sterile field and supporting the surgical team under the direction of a registered nurse.

Qualifications

• H.S. Diploma or GED is required.
• Graduate of Surgical Technology program preferred.
• Graduate of Surgical Technology program is required or prior experience as a Surgical Technologist is required.

Responsibilities

• Handle instruments, supplies and equipment during the surgical procedure and anticipate the surgeon's needs.
• Maintain sterile field and ensure quality patient care throughout the operative procedure.
• Work in partnership with licensed staff and support patient care across age groups under RN direction.

Responsibilities:

Responsible for handling the instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure. He/she has an understanding of the procedure being performed and anticipates the needs of the surgeon. He/she has the necessary knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care during the operative procedure and is constantly on vigil for maintenance of the sterile field. Functions in partnership with licensed staff. Performs patient care duties for clients of various age groups under the direction of a registered nurse.

Qualifications:

Education

• H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required
• Graduate of a Surgical Technology program Preferred

Work Experience

• Graduate of Surgical Technology program Required or
• In lieu of degree prior experience as a Surgical Technologist Required

Licenses and Certifications

• BCLS - Basic Life Support Upon Hire Required
