Job Overview

Fairview Health Services is seeking an experienced Surgical Technologist to join our Ambulatory Surgery Center team located in Maple Grove, MN. This is a 0.6 FTE position that is benefit-eligible. The Surgery Center operates Monday through Friday between 6:30 am and 4:00 pm, with shift start times varying based on need.


Fairview Maple Grove Ambulatory Surgery Center is a partnership with the University of MN Physicians, offering more than 20 medical specialties in one convenient location. Our services include primary and specialty care for pediatrics and adults, as well as a cancer center, breast center, and ambulatory surgery services. The center features four ORs and four procedure rooms.

Responsibilities / Job Description

In this role, you will act as a scrub person during surgical and endoscopic procedures, providing high-quality patient care for a diverse population, from pediatric to geriatric patients. You will collaborate closely with the Registered Nurse (RN) to ensure smooth and efficient care delivery, adhering to clinical standards and patient safety protocols.

  • Serve as a scrub person during operative/endo procedures.
  • Anticipate the surgeon’s needs and provide appropriate instruments, sutures, and specialty items.
  • Maintain aseptic technique throughout all sterile procedures.
  • Assist in the proper identification and handling of specimens.
  • Ensure accurate sponge, sharps, and instrument counts are completed.
  • Act promptly and effectively in emergency situations.
  • Adjust care to reflect the developmental level and cultural differences of the patient population.
  • Communicate respectfully and maintain a safe and secure environment.
  • Engage in patient education as needed, based on an assessment of learning needs.
  • Comply with all relevant laws, regulations, organizational policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Participate in fostering a culture of improvement, efficiency, and innovation.
Required Qualifications
  • Graduate from an approved Surgical Technology program
  • BLS certification for healthcare providers
  • At least 2 years of experience as a surgical technologist
  • Availability to work Monday through Friday, day shifts
